Flood Restoration - Drying Out
IICRC S500 recognizes 3 categories of water that cause damage in buildings:
- Category 1 Water - is suitable to drink at it's source, but may degrade with time and distance from the source. Examples include burst pipes, vertically falling rainwater, etc.
- Category 2 Water - is not suitable to drink at the source, and may become more contaminated with time and distance from the source.
- Category 3 Water - is highly contaminated at the source and may cause serious illness if consumed by humans. Examples include sewage, rising floodwaters, etc.
